KIMS strengthens Bengaluru healthcare network with 2 advanced hospitals
At a time when Bengaluru’s booming technology corridors are drawing people from across the country, the city received a significant boost to its healthcare infrastructure on Sunday with the inauguration of two new super-speciality hospitals by Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS).
The new facilities, located in Mahadevapura and Electronic City, were formally opened by popular Telugu film actor Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao Jr ., widely known as Jr. NTR. The event marked an important milestone for the healthcare group as it expands its presence in one of India’s fastest-growing metropolitan regions.
The Mahadevapura hospital will house more than 450 beds, while the Electronic City unit has a capacity of 350 beds. Together, the two centres feature 30 advanced operation theatres and more than 170 outpatient consultation rooms, designed to handle a wide range of medical needs.
According to KIMS, the hospitals bring together more than 25 super-speciality departments and centres of excellence. These include cardiology, neurology, oncology, paediatrics, orthopaedics, ENT, obstetrics and gynaecology, general surgery, internal medicine and critical care. The facilities will provide round-the-clock primary care as well as advanced diagnostics, surgical services and long-term disease management.
For Jr. NTR, the inauguration also carried a sense of continuity. The actor had earlier participated in the foundation-laying ceremony for the Bengaluru project, lending his support when the expansion plan was first announced. His presence at the opening symbolised the completion of a journey that began with the hospital’s early groundwork.
Dr. Nitish Shetty , Managing Director of KIMS Hospitals Bengaluru, said the new hospitals are intended to serve as major healthcare hubs for the city’s rapidly developing IT corridor. He added that the group plans to launch three more units in the coming year as part of its broader expansion strategy.
With the addition of these facilities, KIMS hopes to make advanced, technology-driven medical care more accessible to residents of Bengaluru and the surrounding regions.
